My Work, Ongoing

My connection to music, theatre, and art started a while back, but until I was able to find my professional path within them I had to try out different jobs. Each one revealed to me another layer of the processes and work that goes into creating a project, putting on a performance, or bringing people together around art.

Before you is an overview of the journey I've made so far, of the skills I acquired, which can be implemented in different contexts. That's how I view my non-linear path — like blocks of Lego in different colors and sizes that can be moved and build various constructions.

I look forward to collecting more of them.

Training for the Contact Zone (TCZ)

Europe

TCZ is an international Cooperation partnership Erasmus+ project, within its Adult Education faction. From day one of the project, I've acted as the representative of one of its partners , Etz Hayyim Synagogue in Greece. My work included composing and editing training materials, organising a consortium meeting in Crete, and acting as an online moderator for an international conference.
The highlight of my work for this project was my role as leader for one of its tasks, which resulted in the production of a toolkit; 'The Contact Zone in the Digital Realm'. This toolkit encapsulates both meditations and practices, aiming towards working consciously, ethically, and meaningfully in virtual and hybrid spaces.

YAM Ensemble

Turkey, Greece, Germany

In the summer of 2025 I participated in a month-long music project called the YAM Ensemble, which took me on a journey through Turkey, Greece, and Germany.

Brought to life by the Other Music Academy e.V., the YAM Ensemble aims to uncover the connections and shared musical repertoire of the Black Sea and Mediterranean regions, specifically between Turkish, Greek, Sephardi, and Ashkenazi (Klezmer/Yiddish) music.

During the project, I met and worked with around 30 incredibly talented musicians and singers and together, under the artistic direction of Sarah Myerson and Ilya Shneyveys, we explored and rehersed a variety of contrafacta, or melodies that have travelled across regions, cultures, and languages.

This project was such a wonderful opportunity to experience the fragility of modern day borders, to engage with music as a living and breathing entity, to create and dare to experiment with musical materials.

I sang in the YAM Ensemble choir and together with the orchestra we performed four concerts in Agios Lavrentios, Thessaloniki, Weimar and Erfurt.

Not-for-Profit Corporation Etz Hayyim

Chania, Crete, Greece

After my studies, I interned for Etz Hayyim Synagogue in Crete for one year. This internship was aimed at deepening my understanding of management and fundraising for arts and culture projects. The initial goal was to oversee the writing process of a proposal for a large-scale European Cooperation Project of the Creative Europe Programme.

Over six months I coordinated the team involved in writing the proposal, contributed to its content and concept, communicated with the eleven partner organisations involved in it, worked on budgeting, the work packages, and deliverables.

It was a well-rounded and rewarding experience which led me to partake in other applications on behalf of Etz Hayyim, one for CERV and one for Horizon Europe.

Humboldt Universität zu Berlin

Berlin, Germany

During my studies, I was employed by Humboldt University as a research and teaching assistant in the Italian Literature Studies department. I worked closely with Prof. Dr. Michèle Mattusch for two and a half years and with Prof. Dr. Esther Schomacher for one and a half years.

My duties included researching and sourcing seminar materials, compiling bibliographies and developing and moderating online learning environments (such as Moodle).

I also assisted Prof. Dr. Esther Schomacher with editing texts intended for publication, including articles that appeared in the book The Culture of Money: Implications for Contemporary Economics.

Additionally, I worked as a tutor, leading an introductory seminar on academic work and writing for first-year students. I created class materials and assignments and led the seminar independently.

As part of the symposium, I also offered an inquisitory vocalising workshop with a dear friend and a colleague, Alena Trapp, titled 'VOICE:Encounter'.

The workshop focused on meeting the voice from a non-judgmental position, without wanting to improve its sound or aesthetics, without expecting a certain output of it.
We asked questions such as "Where does my voice originate? Where is it heading?"

Through movement and sound-making, we interacted with, sensed, and visualised our voices.

As a singer, I remain deeply interested in the voice as phenomenon outside of aesthetics and perfect pitches — I am fascinated by the voice as an entity that lives with-in and with-out us.

April 2019 - September 2024

Humboldt Universität zu Berlin

Berlin, Germany

In April 2019, I started studying at the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin. I was freshly out of several failed auditions, dreaming of studying classical singing, alas, a little too late.

I conjured up an alternative plan to study musicology just until I'm able to get into a music school.

The musicology study course would only start in October and, due to visa restrictions, I had to start studying practically yesterday, so I enrolled as a German Linguistics and Italian student for one semester.

I wasn't a fan of the German Linguistics Studies, but I did continue studying Italian because I was certain that it would come handy once I'm an opera singer.

In October 2019, I started studying Musicology and continued to do so until I graduated.

At some point, I had to start taking all my classes online — university and singing alike — as the world spiralled into a seemingly eternal quarantine.

Through tosses and turns, I decided to let go of my dream of becoming an opera singer, which turned out to be the right decision for me.

I did still put all my focus into learning as much as I can about operas — for approximately two years, all seminars and courses I attended revolved around opera, until I started losing the joy around it, until I started questioning what it is that really connects me to music, art, and myself.

That's when I attended my first ever seminar led by Prof. Dr. Jin Hyun Kim.

Besides writing funding applications I also took a leading role in communications and fundraising for the nonrprofit as a whole and contributed to its administration.

As for communications, I ran the social media channels and I established and edited a brand new monthly newsletter, Echos (available on Substack).

When it comes to fundraising I started a crowdfunding campaign, created a Donor's Dossier to engage potential donors, and worked on cultivating existing and new relationships with philantropists and philantropic foundations.

In addition, I expanded Etz Hayyim's volunteering program by creating new internship positions and overseeing the selection and interviewing process of potential trainees.

Galerie Nord | Kunstverein Tiergarten

Berlin, Germany

In 2023 I completed a four-month-long internship at the Galerie Nord in Moabit, Berlin.

During the internship, I joined a team of three curators and together, we planned and carried out a two-day interdisciplinary symposium  titled 'vocal creatures'

My work constituted researching for potential contributions, developing the conference's agenda, and maintaining communications with presenters and artists.

In addition, I gained invaluable experience in event management — from preparing and setting up the space, to working with the sound and light technicians, designing and printing promotionals, organising the event moderation, and accomplishing small moderation tasks.

VOICE:Encounter workshop

Prof. Kim changed my whole perspective on music. Sitting through seminars reflecting on what music is, what does it mean to possess musical qualities, opened my eyes and mind to what makes music special.

It led me to question: Why does music exist around the world? Why does it hold such importance and meaning? What gives it meaning?

I spent the next two years practically repeating my entire degree, this time attending seminars from the systematic musicology department.

That's when I studied about and experimented with the micro-phenomenological interview technique and theory, learned about and experienced 'sentire', and attended a conference led by Prof. Kim titled 'Interactive Digital Art & Societal Health'.

Through it all, Prof. Kim and other professors and lecturers encouraged my interest in voice studies and the voice as a phenomenon.

I finished my studies with a thesis titled 'Singing for Wellbeing. How Singing Facilitates Personal, Social, and Societal Health' supervised by Prof. Dr. Sebastian Klotz und Prof. Dr. Jin Hyun Kim.

I am extremely grateful for my time at the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, as it shaped the way I approach texts, music, and life.
